Manikaran: is located between Vyaas and Paravti rivers in parvati valley. It is located about 45 kms from Kullu. It is a pilgrimage centre for Sikh and Hindu community. It is well known for its hot springs which is in a village Vashisht and landscapes. The rocks of the spring are uncomfortably hot and the temperature of the hot spring water is above the boiling point. The water of spring is so hot that even one can cook food in that water. The Hindus believe that Manu Brahmin had recreated the human life when the world is deluged into water. Manikaran has many Gurudwaras and temples. The famous temples are temples of Lord Krishna, Lord Rama, and Lord Vishnu. It is also believed that Shiva and his consort Parvati visited there and Parvati lost her earring there which was kept by Shesha and he surrendered the earring only after Shiva performed Tandava. |
