Leh: It is district in the state of Jammu & Kashmir. The height of of the Leh is 11,483 ft. Leh is famous for its salt, grain, pashm or cashmere wool, silk yarn, Banaras brocade. The first royal residency was built by King Tashi Namgyal. He ruled over Ladakh in 16th century CE. Now the Namgyal monastery or Tsemo Gompa is one of the famous tourist attractions. It is also famous as main Buddhist centre in Leh. Below this there are two more monastories named Chamba and Chenresi. The other famous tourists attraction include Gon-Khang temple which is a temple of guardian divinities. There is also a royal palace which is commonly known as Leh palace which is a nine storey building. This palace was built by King Sengge Namgyal. The royal family accommodated the upper floors and on the lower floors there were store rooms. Since eight century people lived there were of different religions. Most of the population was of Buddhism and Islam and there were no conflict between them. But after opening of Ladakh to the world, the issue of religions has arisen which affects the coexistence of the religion in Leh. The climate of Leh is cold and dry from October to March but in remaining time it is almost fine. The average rainfall is about 90 mm and the temperature of the Leh varies accordingly. In winter the range of temperature is – 280 C and in summer it may reach up to 330 C. There are many different ways to reach Leh. The most direct way is modern highway which follows the route from Punjab via Mandi, the Kullu Valley, over the Rohtang Pass, through Lahul and on the Indus valley to Leh. There is also one route from Srinagar and two routes from Baltistan. The Srinagar-Leh highway connects Leh with Srinagar and the Leh-Manali highway connects Leh with Manali. These roads are opened seasonly for the tourist. The different airlines services include Jet Airways, Indian Airlines, and Kingfisher Red.
